What is the role on a high level?

Let’s take a moment to see an overview of the role before we get into the nitty gritty.

We want you to be Atelier Ten New York’s new full-time Accountant who’ll work alongside a fun and supportive accounting team.  As an Accountant, you’ll wear many hats supporting Atelier Ten’s two US offices project finance, invoicing, contracting, and expense functions.  Although we’re slightly biased, we believe this is an excellent opportunity to join a small but mighty local accounting team that’ll provide the exposure and training needed for you to become a full-fledged accounting guru.

 

What your day-to-day looks like

Days at A10 are like the newest fashion, constantly changing, but here are some regular tasks you may encounter:

  • Monitor and update fee forecasts and workplans based on project manager and principal projections
  • Process, record, and track new work won based on purchase orders, contracts, and related documents
  • Liaise with the Accounting Manager, marketing team, principals, and client contacts to obtain, review contract terms, and digitally file formal notice-to-proceeds and signed contracts
  • Create and maintain billing schedules for project managers
  • Proactively liaise with principals and project managers to maintain good project finance “hygiene”
  • Work with the accounting team to develop, implement and maintain new project management controls
  • Issue expense invoices to clients and assist the Accounting Manager with intercompany invoice submissions
  • Support accounting team and project managers with complex billing and any invoicing issues
  • Review and approve employee and company credit card expense reports
  • Collect, input, and file subconsultant and vendor invoices
  • Record checks, ACHs, and wires in QuickBooks and support in administrating our digital banking platform
  • Prepare monthly employee expense and revenue related journal entries
  • Create and distribute various monthly and quarterly accounting, project, and financial reports
  • Complete other administrative and accounting ad hoc tasks as assigned

  

What we are looking for
Hopefully you’re on board so far and excited about what your days at Atelier Ten will look like. We do have a few items on our wish list for you to become the next great “A10”er. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, proactive, and self-motivated with an appreciation and willingness to learn a variety of tasks. They should be a self-professed wizard of data entry, attention to detail, and communication.  And if we’re not pushing our luck with asks, you ideally will possess:

  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field of study
  • 2 – 3 years of work experience in an accounting role. Bonus points for experience within an architectural, engineering, professional services, or consulting field
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, and excellent verbal, inter-personal and writing skills
  • Adeptness in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to quickly navigate accounting software. Experience with Deltek Ajera and QuickBooks a plus

Atelier Ten US seeks to compensate staff based on a variety of factors related to the role and the candidate. These factors include (but not limited to) the responsibilities, requirements, and location of the position, as well as the candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. We also consider internal equity, market data, and growth potential. The good faith estimate of the base compensation offered for this role is between $58,000 and $70,000 depending on the level of experience the candidate brings to this role. This range does not include the value of Atelier Ten’s many benefit offerings.
