This is a residential development of three high-quality houses on a brownfield site in London. The project was designed with Squire and Partners Architects over a six-month design program with a two year construction period
Atelier Ten were responsible for Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health and Fire Engineering for the development, as well as Code for Sustainable Homes assessment. The six-bedroom houses, spread over six floors, have been designed with sustainability and future- proofing in mind.
The design incorporates whole house heat recovery with the highest efficiency gas boiler supplying both the heating and hot water systems. Building design U-values are 30% better than regulation, and the building is designed with an air tightness of 5m³/m² at 50Pa (50% better than regulation). The design incorporates a level of flexibility for occupants with an opportunity to alter room use with minimum disruption. The bedrooms have been designed with discretely located room cooling units, incorporating high efficient VRF room cooling units, positioned to minimise acoustic interference while delivering draft free cooling. The water system incorporates low water use fittings and appliances and has rainwater harvesting for use in the garden and on terraces.
