In order to attract and retain the nation’s top level scientists and researchers, this state-of-the art science facility takes advantage of many available environmental opportunities to increase occupant comfort and productivity while also reducing resource dependency and achieving LEED Silver certification.
The Advanced Science Research Center at City College will provide a new research and training facility for the study of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, and Computational Sciences.
Atelier Ten developed and analyzed massing, daylight and façade design strategies to increase building energy efficiency and reduce solar heat gain while maximizing daylighting potential. Atelier Ten also helped guide the process of selecting one scheme for the building by providing detailed energy analyses of HVAC systems concepts during Concept Design to evaluate them for thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
Atelier Ten also provided strategic LEED support as a third party reviewer and resource to help the design team track project performance against the benchmarks set during the pre-design sustainability charrette.
