British Land Sustainability Brief
Developing a new sustainability brief for British Land that will be adopted for all their new development projects
Atelier Ten helped British Land develop their new sustainability brief that can be used for all their future projects. The intended purpose of this job was to create an adaptable brief that can be tailored to different building types and sizes, with relevant targets and requirements for retail, office and residential building types, covering varying sizes from £5m to above £50m projects.
In addition to local authority requirements, the brief captures best practice sustainability targets related to social sustainability, occupant comfort, operable/embodied energy and material safety that are not addressed in widely used benchmarking schemes such as BREEAM, which ensures that the brief supports the client’s vision of creating Places People Prefer.
