Brodies LLP, one of Scotland’s largest law practices relocated from their existing office in Edinburgh’s West End to new, bespoke premises in the top three floors of the new 122,000 sqft Capital Square building in the Exchange District of Edinburgh.
Atelier Ten were appointed to work alongside Michael Laird Architects to create a unique space which allowed Brodies LLP to provide a collaborative working environment which was focussed on their employees’ health and wellbeing.
This newly created workspace provides each employee with a great, flexible and dynamic place to work which sets Brodies LLP apart from their competitors.
This commitment was demonstrated as part of the Atelier Ten appointed where we assessed the project against both BREEAM and WELL benchmarking criteria. The fit-out achieved a BREEAM excellent rating along with being the first WELL platinum certified fit-out project in Scotland.
To achieve these exemplary standards the Atelier Ten MEPH design was consistently cross-referenced to these standards to ensure compliance. As project environmental consultants this approach was also carried through with the architect and the client to educate them that the decisions made during design and construction impact employees experience within the space.
Detailed monitoring of contractor installations on site were imperative to ensuring the quality of design was carried through into the fit-out. This was achieved by attending regular client/contractor meetings and on-site monitoring.
