Located on a 4-acre site, east of downtown Indianapolis and bounded by the cultural bike trail and the historic Market street, the new facility is designed to serve as the global distribution headquarters and includes a variety of workspaces and social hubs.
Atelier Ten provided guidance on the design from the beginning of the concept phase, most notably with analyzing daylighting conditions and exterior shades. Narrow floor plates maximize daylight penetration and access to outdoor views, while minimizing the electric lighting loads, providing excellent daylighting conditions. A calibrated external shading system with louvers and fins provides solar control for visual comfort and reduced solar gains for the interior work environment.
The stormwater system recommended by Atelier Ten features natural retention areas and a vegetated green roof to completely eliminate potable water use for irrigation, keeping more than 80% of stormwater within the site.
Atelier Ten provided energy analysis services, proposing a design with energy efficiency measures that amount to 19% savings in annual energy consumption.
