The new Galashiels Community Hub merges Galashiels Academy and Galashiels Swimming Pool into one central Community Hub.
The building is set within the secluded setting of Scott Park, providing an expanse of green space all around the site, including bands of mature trees. The development will create a new 1000+ pupil school, with extensive community facilities. The project will be delivered to achieve the LEIP Funding targets, which shall include strict energy performance parameters. Atelier Ten have developed a response to these targets in collaboration with JM Architects. As part of this work, demand reduction through detailed fabric analysis and FF&E energy budget setting has been undertaken.
Centralised air handling plant and heat pump technology is being integrated into the architecture from an early stage, allowing for an informed and efficient M&E services strategy.
