Atelier Ten is guiding the development of ambitious environmental performance benchmarks, which the State of Illinois will use to renovate and consolidate its existing office spaces, and plan for its next fifty years of growth.
This planning effort includes a review of all peripheral state office sites and adjoining property in relation to the surrounding urban environment, as well as critical analysis of the existing Capitol grounds and ancillary facilities. Atelier Ten is advising the design team on the development of environmental performance benchmarks for existing buildings and upstream infrastructure. Atelier Ten is also setting major resource use targets for building energy intensity, energy supply efficiency and water use intensity, and setting environmental footprint targets including carbon emissions intensity. To guide the design team towards meeting these ambitious benchmarks, Atelier Ten is testing several design options for siting, massing and orientation, building systems integration, daylight and shading, erosion and sedimentation control, and stormwater management.
