The MegaFon Sochi showcase interactive pavilion, is for one of Russia’s largest telecoms companies and general partner of the Sochi Winter Games.
The showcase pavilion was designed to create an interactive experience between building and visitor. On entering the building, visitors used one of the 3D photo booths located within the pavilion’s ground floor experience zone. Once their face was scanned, the visitor continued their experience in the pavilion up to the roof while their face was recreated on one of the façades: over 10,000 actuators transformed the building skin into a 3D portrait.
The design, construction, operation, disassembly and legacy aspects of the project were developed for a life beyond the games. The temporary structure has been relocated to a more permanent location after the games (Moscow).
The services were designed to meet the varying climates within Sochi and Moscow while minimising energy usage and maintaining a good comfort level.
