Multi-Family Housing Studies

For these multi-family housing projects (market rate and affordable) Atelier Ten provided big-picture guidance and detailed analyses to provide the team with a menu of sustainability strategies for current and future projects.

Our role with each of these projects was to guide the process of sustainable design, including setting goals and coordinating design team members. We worked with the BAR Architects (and the development team, where applicable) to identify sustainable design solutions, test their effectiveness, and prioritize those solutions for energy, water, and other resource use reductions.

Atelier Ten also helped BAR Architects develop three climate-responsive multi-family housing prototypes which BAR can use as a starting point for future multi-family development projects. Each prototype included a framework for communicating good and best practice options for a range of sustainability issues and components and a list of effective and cost-conscious options for those components.
