Situated strategically within World Trade Center, the Perelman Performing Arts Center glows from within. Atelier Ten optimized the thermal performance of the innovative marble-glass curtainwall to achieve a 20.7% annual energy savings.

Atelier Ten played a key role in shaping PAC NYC’s environmental strategy, integrating high-performance design within the dense urban setting of the World Trade Center. The building’s innovative marble-glass curtainwall optimizes thermal performance by leveraging the stone’s natural shading properties and a neutral low-e coating to minimize solar heat gain. The building environmental systems are designed to support the numerous theatre seating configurations that are customized for each theatrical production. Efficient plumbing fixtures conserve water. These strategies contribute to PAC NYC’s LEEDv4 Silver certification, achieving a 21.9% annual energy cost savings, a 20.7% reduction in site energy use, and a 30% potable water savings.

To maintain the indoor air quality and increase occupant comfort, the building features a high-performance air handling advanced air filtration systems, and LED lighting systems with advanced controls. Sustainable material selection was a priority, with over 55 environmental product declarations (EPDs) and 31 health product declarations (HPDs) documenting responsible choices. Additionally, an on-site biodigester and recycling facilities significantly reduce landfill waste.

Atelier Ten also developed a green cleaning policy to promote sustainable operations, addressing responsible procurement, chemical management, and occupant well-being. These strategies reinforce PAC NYC’s commitment to environmental stewardship while setting a new standard for sustainable performing arts venues.
