The exciting rejuvenation of Sentosa and Pulau Brani aims to position Singapore as a leading leisure and tourism destination. The masterplan consists of 5 unique character zones – vibrant cluster, island heart, waterfront, ridgeline and beachfront – each offering a captivating experience to local and international visitors alike. The masterplan presents a conceptual design by the consultants delivered for Sentosa Development Corporation.
Atelier Ten provided environmental design and masterplan sustainability consultancy. Given the wide range of character zones that include large attractions areas, natural and heritage areas, waterfront promenades and beachfront areas, we established early that the needs and applicability of sustainability initiatives would vary largely from zone to zone. We helped define the overarching sustainability vision and objectives for this project, covering not only environmental aspects like biodiversity but also aspects like visitor experience and accessibility to transport.
With strong principles in place, Atelier Ten developed a bespoke sustainability framework for the needs of the character zones using local and international best-practices. To ensure the design guidelines were site-specific and prioritise the most effective design solutions, we ran calculations and environmental simulations.
