The Argyll and Sutherland Highlander museum underwent a transformation to create a more stimulating and interactive experience whilst increasing revenue.
The Argyll and Sutherland Museum is the regimental museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, their antecedent regiments and successor battalions. Located in Stirling Castle, the museum building was built in the 1490s, and known as the “King’s House” or “King’s Old Building”, thought to have been the private residence of King James IV.
Atelier Ten’s building services engineers worked closely with the architects to release valuable ground floor space through the relocation of incoming services and mechanical plant to less critical locations within the building as part of the rejuvenation of the building.
Our fire engineers examined methods of facilitating improved circulation through the building to ensure valuable foot fall can be increased through the proposed retail facility on the ground floor.
