If you met someone from outer space, how would you describe Earth in just a few words? This is the question behind Es Devlin’s concept for the UK Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai. Visitors will be invited to send a phrase or a word to the pavilion, which will use AI to construct a poem, and then publish this on the 20-metre high façade.
Reinforcing the global vision for the pavilion, the interior labyrinth will be filled with a soundtrack featuring choirs from every continent.
The design team is led by Es Devlin and the agency Avantgarde. Atelier Ten are providing sustainability and engineering services for this exceptional pavilion. Our work is focused on ensuring a comfortable experience for visitors while minimising the use of natural resources and the impact on the environment.
Es Devlin posed the question, “What if the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 becomes a place where visitors from all over the world take part in a collective global project that showcases British expertise in A.I. technologies and poetry while transcending national identities?”
