Wandsworth Gasworks
with Carmody Groarke and MAX Architects and shedkm
The vision of the Wandsworth Gasworks development is to revitalise a former gasworks site, transforming it into new homes, work spaces, and high quality public spaces. The site celebrates its connection to the river Wandle, creating a lush, new riverside park and providing a new bridge that completes the Wandle trail.
Atelier Ten is delighted to provide the MEP, environmental design, and fire engineering for the Wandsworth Gasworks development, which will breathe new life into a former industrial site, providing new places to live, work, and relax. The proposal has a potential biodiversity net gain and high urban greening factor.
Wandsworth Gasworks sets high standards for passive design, whole life carbon, and a healthy indoor environment. The development targets a BREEAM Outstanding certification with credits maximised against health and wellbeing, energy and materials. The proposal also aims to hit LETI targets for building thermal performance, and is providing Research and Development investment to develop the feasibility of heat recovery from UKPN transformer stations, which could ultimately eliminate the use of natural gas within the scheme.
