The Danforth Campus at Washington University looks to advance its commitment to environmental stewardship, further exemplifying a model of resourceful and sustainable facilities.
Atelier Ten engaged with Washington University to organize and translate the University’s sustainability goals into a comprehensive document that strives to minimize adverse environmental impacts, while enhancing Washington University’s Danforth campus and the surrounding St. Louis community.
A sustainable approach was developed to take an expanded view to ensure that environmental, economic and social issues and costs are properly examined and aligned to meet the University’s current goals and commitments while creating a model 21st century educational environment. As a result, the Framework, which builds on the University’s early efforts, includes comprehensive strategies and targets for future campus building and planning projects.
